Memory Walk – 2009
The Official Hurley Elder Care Law “Top 10” reasons to join our team
The Memory Walk sponsored by the Alzheimer’s Association is the nation’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s disease care, support and research. Hurley Elder Care Law is pleased to further our support of the Alzheimer’s Association by forming a team to participate in the 2009 Memory Walk. This newsletter is distributed to aging services professionals, legal colleagues, clients and family members, many of whom are affected by Alzheimer’s disease. We are inviting any and all who are interested to join us on October 17, 2009. For details, please keep reading.
All Memory Walk donations benefit the Alzheimer’s Association, the leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer care.
According to the Alzheimer’s Association’s website, since 1989, Memory Walk has raised more than $260 million for the cause. All Memory Walk donations benefit the Alzheimer’s Association, the leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer care, support and research. The mission of the Alzheimer’s Association is to eliminate Alzheimer’s disease through the advancement of research, to provide and enhance care and support for all affected, and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health.
By supporting the Memory Walk, you’ll be joining the battle against a disease that affects so many members of our “greatest generation”…
Enjoy this top ten list of the reasons you may want to join our team for the 2009 Memory Walk!
10. Free Admission to the Zoo…The Memory Walk will be at Zoo Atlanta this year. You can enjoy the Zoo’s exhibits for free and learn about the Elephant’s reputation for having excellent memory.
9. Good Exercise – the Memory Walk is 3.1 miles long (a 5k). You should burn about 300 calories which equals a Krispy Kreme Doughnut!
8. Sleep In – The memory walk starts at 9:30am (be there a little earlier for registration and team photos) you don’t need to wake up too early!
7. No Football Conflicts – The Memory Walk is on Saturday October 17. It’s a light weekend for college football. There are very few pivotal games on the schedule.
6. It’s Easy – You can follow this link to join our team. There is no registration fee (we have taken care of that) and by using the online fundraising tools, you can have your friends and colleagues support you and the Alzheimer’s Association.
5. Elder Law Advice – Enjoy a free 3 mile consultation with Miles or Dianne.
4. Meet the law firm staff – We are a lot of fun (especially Louise and Theresa) I promise you won’t be bored.
3. A New T-Shirt – Join our team and we will provide you with a free Hurley Elder Care Law T-Shirt (just what you always wanted???)
2. Free Lunch – Join our team then join us for lunch after the Memory Walk.
And the # 1 reason…By supporting the Memory Walk, you’ll be joining the battle against a disease that affects so many members of our “greatest generation” who fought for our freedoms. Something to think about as we approach Veteran’s Day. Let’s fight now for these men and women and for future generations to beat this disease.
“Family Business”
We finally convinced Dianne to take a vacation, she is spending a week in Mexico scuba diving! Theresa is back in school and is taking macro-economics, between school and work, she doesn’t have much free time!

Most of the staff enjoyed a weekend in Chicago for the Life Care Planning Law Firms Annual Education Conference. Miles and Dawn were both speakers.

It’s football season for the Hurley boys. Young Graham Hurley made two key tackles to save a touchdown and was awarded dinner at “5 Guys” for his efforts!
