Adds Eight States to Enhanced UGA Plus Product |
UGA clients will be
pleased to know we’ve added eight more states to the optional UGA
Plus upgrade product. We unveiled UGA Plus early this year to fill in the
data gaps left in the U.S. land grid due to un-surveyed lands in the USGS
topographic maps that are used as UGA source material. These gaps literally
appear as blank spots in the grid layer.
WhiteStar is supplementing the land grid with enhanced Township and Range
information from Bureau of Land Management (BLM) maps. We started with
Wyoming, where BLM map data is now requested for some drilling permits, and
are continuing with all affected states. The list of states included to
date in UGA Plus is on the left side of this newsletter.
The greater level of detail contained in the UGA Plus product will benefit
any organization that is mapping land leases – such as government
agencies, oil and gas companies, pipeline operators, utilities and
alternative energy firms. UGA Plus is offered as an optional product to
supplement the standard UGA and comes with all states completed to date.
Others will be sent with the regular subscription updates as we add
them.
In addition, we have drilled even deeper to add Lot and Tract information
to the Wyoming product. We are calling this ‘UGA Plus Lots and
Tracts’. Wyoming is available now, and we’ll add more in the
near future.
Call Steve Pickett at 303-781-5182 to find out how you can upgrade your UGA
with UGA Plus and UGA Plus Lots and Tracts.

OPUS Gets Great Reviews at PUG |
We officially unveiled
WhiteStar OPUS last month at the ESRI Petroleum Users Group (PUG)
Conference. Over the course of the conference, we gave nearly three dozen
live demos of OPUS. Most people who took part in the demos were amazed at
its speed and breadth of data content.
In case you missed it, WhiteStar OPUS is a turnkey hardware/software
solution that brings the power of collaboration to the enterprise
map-making process. We developed OPUS by bundling three WhiteStar
Enterprise data sets into the ESRI ArcGIS Data Appliance to create a
one-of-a-kind mapping solution. The three WhiteStar Enterprise data layers
are UGA Plus, UWA, and Unlimited DEM Access.
These layers are rectified with the core data sets offered in the appliance
by ESRI – nationwide and worldwide transportation layers, raster
imagery, topographic maps, shaded relief maps, elevation data, place names,
and administrative boundaries. The main benefit of WhiteStar OPUS is the
speed with which it allows enterprise users to make maps containing a
variety of feature layer. It’s the ideal collaboration tool when
multiple departments need to be involved in creating mash-up maps,
performing joint geospatial analysis or sharing applications.

| Texas Survey
Problems? |
Have you ever questioned
the position of a land survey line in Texas? Have you been frustrated
because you can’t get a solid answer or get the problem fixed? If so,
you’re not alone. We’ve had several people call and ask about
problems they have trying to figure out which data source they should
follow when it comes to land survey lines. Fortunately, we have survey
experts in Texas to help us help our callers figure out what’s right
and what’s not and to obtain documentation for complex surveys. This
service is included with your UGA subscription. Check out the March 18
WhiteStar blog
for more details on this issue.
